Coast and Country: An Escape to Kangaroo Valley and Pebbly Beach

Two nights, two destinations, and a whole lot of freedom – that's the beauty of a motorcycle camping adventure. So, I strapped on my helmet and headed north for a taste of both rolling countryside and rugged coastline.

On my journey to Bendeela Campground I stopped by the Australian Fleet Air Arm Museum in Nowra, this is a place full of Naval Aviation history and a place I highly recommend if you’re ever in the area.

My first stop on this two night camping trip was Bendeela Campground in Kangaroo Valley. Nestled amongst towering gum trees, this peaceful spot offered the perfect escape from the daily grind.

After arriving at the campground and setting up camp, I spent the afternoon exploring the scenic trails around the campground and along the river banks.

This campground is known for Wombats who come out on dusk and I sure wasn’t disappointed, either were the other visitors who had their cameras ready to catch a photo.

Day two brought a change of scenery. Bidding farewell to Bendeela, I pointed my bike south towards Pebbly Beach in Murramarang National Park. The ride itself was a thrill, the road hugging the coastline, offering glimpses of turquoise water and crashing waves. Arriving at Pebbly Beach, the salty air and the sound of the ocean instantly put me at ease.

My campsite here was a stone's throw from the beach, the rhythmic lull of the waves a constant lullaby. The afternoon was spent soaking up the sun on the golden sand, the occasional splash in the ocean a welcome cool-down.

The next morning I rose up early to catch the sunrise coming over the horizon of the ocean, and I was not disappointed, it was a sunrise that’ll be hard to forget.

Two nights, two distinct landscapes, but both offering a unique sense of peace and adventure. This motorcycle camping trip was a reminder that some of the best experiences are found on two wheels, with a tent pitched under a sky full of possibilities.
